When asked about the EV registration process, Aslam responded that the government has devised a formula and that the interministerial committee formed to oversee the matter has also devised incentives for the imports, registrations, duties, and other ownership-related concerns of EV users.

SAPM declared that the government is on the fast-track to introduce and normalize the use of EVs across the country as multiple ministries and other concerned departments are running feasibility checks to set up a sustainable infrastructure and policy in this regard.

He said that the developments will significantly reduce both fuel expenses and air pollution in the country.

“The government has set a target to bring half a million electric motorcycles and rickshaws along with more than 100,000 electric cars, buses, and trucks into the transportation system in the next five years,” he added.
