PFA Seizes 10,000 kg Material for Manufacturing of ‘Fake’ Beverages.

Punjab Food Authority has recovered 250 cartons, weighing 10,000 kg, of material that was meant to be used in the production of ‘fake’ beverages and sold in Ramadan.

The material included chemicals, starch, artificial colors and flavors. The authority has foiled the perpetrators’ attempt of selling substandard juices in Ramazan.

According to the PFA, the material was transported from Sargodha to Lahore. The authority has registered the case against the owner and is looking for the production unit where the fake juice is manufactured.

The consumption of beverages increases manifolds in the month of Ramzan. The practice of distributing fake soft drinks using the labels of famous brands becomes rampant in this holy month.

Only last year, the PFA team sealed three factories in Lahore that were engaged in the same illicit practice. It discarded more than 30,000 fake cold drink bottles in the operation.

Director General PFA has advised the public to consume homemade food to avoid any untoward incident.
