Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani has called for enhanced efforts of Inter-Parliamentary Union to forge cooperation and joint mechanisms at both inter-governmental and inter-parliamentary level in addressing the global Corona pandemic challenge.
He expressed these views at a ceremony at Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services in Islamabad on Sunday on the occasion of launch of IPU’s publication on its 130th anniversary.
Welcoming the President IPU Gabriela Cuevas Barron, he extended felicitations to the IPU on bringing out such an impressive publication.
The Chairman Senate said today nations of the world are facing multiple challenges, including socio- economic peace and human development.
He said peace and development are interlinked and we will have to expedite measures for peace, development and security.
Expressing her delight to visit Pakistan, Gabriela Cuevas Barron said Parliaments have a crucial role in protecting and prompting human rights and democratic values in societies.
She said we have common challenges and we all need to make joint efforts to overcome them.
