Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain says the government is impartial in arrest of former Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif by the National Accountability Bureau.
Talking to state media during a visit to Pind Dadan Khan on Friday, he said NAB is an independent institution.
The Minister said the government will provide necessary administrative assistance to NAB in conducting the accountability.
He said people, who have looted the national kitty, should be held answerable, and detention of Shahbaz Sharif is an important development in this regard.
He said there are different corruption cases, including Ashiana Housing Scheme, against Shahbaz Sharif. He said the NAB investigated Ashiana Housing Scheme scam and arrested Shahbaz Sharif.
He said these cases were initiated by the NAB during the PML-N government.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said process of accountability should move forward and people allegedly involved in other mega corruption scams should also be held accountable.
Addressing a ceremony at Khewra in District Jhelum, Minister for Information Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said government strongly believes in transparency and accountability to take the country forward.
He said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, during the election campaign and even after coming into power, advocated and forwarded the process of accountability and it is government’s top priority.
The Minister said the economy suffered badly in the last decade.
He said overall loans on the country were 6000 billion rupees when the Musharraf government ended which surged to 13,000 billion rupees at the end of PPP government and reached to a staggering amount of 28,000 billion rupees by the time last government completed its term.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the government believes in business-friendly policies to attract foreign investment in the country.
He said our preference is investment, and not loans. He said government is taking steps to improve its ease of doing business ranking, so that more investment is made in the country leading to more jobs and social security.
The Minister said government respects the rights of laborers as they are the main pillars of economic development.
On the occasion, Fawad Chaudhry inaugurated two generators for water supply that have been installed by ICI Foundation.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Fawad Hussain Chaudhry has said that no decision has yet been made on placing the names of PML-N leaders Saad Rafique and Salman Rafique on ECL.
In a tweet message, the Minister denied the reports in this regard.
The Minister said decisions of NAB will be implemented.
